Savvy Buying for Dealers
Are you a veteran, in mid-career or are you just starting to sell
antiques? Dealers and other antiques professionals find our
tours immensely valuable. If you’re feeling "shopworn" and in
need of little jump-start, you’ll find that our trips are uplifting
and invigorating. You’ll meet others who share your
passion. You’ll be stretched. And you’ll learn a
lot. And if you’re in the business, you can charge the tour as
a business expense (consult your accountant for questions about
this).
You will have access to a whole
new universe of appealing antiques and collectibles. Use the
trip to give some new "traction" to your business. Buy new
things to experiment with. Stock up on items you know are
good sellers.
Do you have a large store?
Use the trip to select a range of furniture styles you haven’t
tried before and expand your inventory. Or focus on one or two
periods and buy a couple of outstanding pieces to test your
customers’ interest. You’ll see a variety of high-end, mid-range and
unrestored furniture. You can also buy some items in bulk (household
antiques, farm primitives, etc.) and save.
Do you have a medium-size or smaller shop?
Breathe new
life into your shop with a mix of furniture from different periods,
art, specialty items as well as high-range and inexpensive smalls.
Benefit from the cachet of a buying tour and use the trip as a
springboard to re-engage your flagging customer base. Contact past
customers. Tell them you’re off to a buying tour. Let them
know you will be happy to buy for them while you are on the trip.
Let current customers know that you are going on the tour and tell
them you will be importing great new merchandise!
Do you sell from a booth or a case?
The trip will give you access to an immense array of antiques and
collectibles that are ideal for displaying in a small space. Use the
tour as an opportunity to refresh your inventory with a range of
appealing smaller furniture, unusual accessories, jewelry, art,
toys, linens and textiles, technical antiques, clocks and more.
Change your look and attract new customers. Hang a sign in your
space to alert customers that you will be adding new merchandise
from Europe.
Do you sell at an antique or flea market or online?
You’ll see a huge range of easily packable small collectibles and
antiques that are perfect for selling at markets or online. Buy art
glass, country items, pictures, pottery, porcelain, toys, dolls,
jewelry, ephemera and more. Stock up for several months.
